Salary: £24,000 - £30,000 p.a.

Washington Metalworks is a successful Manufacturing company based in Gateshead, with an ambitious strategic growth plan through investment and development. We are offering an exciting opportunity to join us, as we continue to expand the business in equipment, facilities, products and people.

AS HR Executive for our busy manufacturing site the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable.

This is a stand-alone role, and you will have the opportunity to shape the HR function. You will be responsible for delivering a responsive and high-quality service. Key tasks include providing consistent advice to managers and employees in accordance with company policy and employment law. You will also support employee engagement, recruitment and take a lead on casework such as grievance, discipline, capability and attendance management.


  • Provide advice on all aspects of company policy, best practice and employment law.
  • Develop, support and deliver employee engagement strategy.
  • Provide support on all recruitment exercises.
  • Develop and manage Internal Communications.
  • Manage the apprenticeship portfolio and the recruitment of apprentices.
  • Review HR management systems and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Support and lead projects according to company requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a HR role is essential.
  • Qualified to a minimum of CIPD Level 5 or working towards achieving.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability and flexibility to deliver against multiple priorities.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Ability to gather and interpret information, evidence and data to inform people management decisions.
  • An ability to build effective working relationships and deliver a continuously improving service.
