Washington Metalworks are a successful Manufacturing company based in Gateshead Tyne and Wear. We offer complete sheet metal services. Our sheet metal fabrication solutions keep businesses moving.

After a recent investment programme within the business which will take us into the next decade, we are looking to strengthen the fabrication department and have a requirement for several Sheet Metal Fabricators who can work on various metals including Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Mild Steel using TIG & MIG Welding Processes, helping to make products across a variety of industries.

The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of Sheet Metal Fabrication and enjoy the opportunity to cross train over different product.

An immediate start is available for the right candidates.

Rates of Pay from £12.20 - £14.30 depending on experience.

Reports to: Financial Controller

Summary of the Main Purpose of the Role

Assist the Financial Controller in ensuring the company receives payment for goods and services provided. Maintain an up-to-date and accurate system, raising appropriate sales documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts’ analysis work, with regards to cost of sales to specific jobs/inventory items, including GL transactions and journals.
  • Contribute to cashflow forecasting, providing estimates of receivables due.
  • Maintain and review aged debtors’ reports/dashboards, focus on overdue/upcoming out of terms invoices and escalation of outstanding accounts.
  • Regularly report and communicate areas of concern to Financial Controller/Directors.
  • Perform month end reconciliation of debtor’s movements and sales.
  • Input sales invoices/credit notes in GSS for goods and/or services rendered, matching documents to despatch notes.
  • Distribute customer invoices and statements via email or post.
  • Communication with customers to ensure timely receipt of payment and obtain payment dates to enable robust cashflow forecasts.
  • Receive payments in GSS and apply to customer accounts and projects accordingly.
  • Chasing overdue accounts by email and phone to reduce debtor balances.
  • Liaising with internal managers to address queries, debits/credits and follow up action required.
  • Negotiate customer payments and liaise with Commercial department to adjust delivery schedules/credit limits where necessary.
  • Set up and maintain customer records in GSS invoicing system, including credit limits and company Experian risk searches.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient reporting and escalation processes.
  • Process incoming mail concerning billing, invoicing and via phone.
  • Audit ledgers to ensure they contain correct information, such as billing addresses and invoice numbers.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with customers by understanding their operations and determining how best to ensure payment terms are met.
  • Complete any other reasonable further tasks as requested by the Financial Controller/Finance Manager.

Must be AAT part qualified to a minimum of Level 3, desirable Level 4 qualified (or willingness to undertake study to attain full qualification).

We are a successful Manufacturing company based in Gateshead, with an ambitious strategic growth plan through investment and development. We require a 7.5 Tonne Driver to join us to help grow our business further.

As a 7.5 Tonne Driver you will need to have:

  • Minimum 6 months experience
  • No more than 6 penalty points for minor offences. (No DD on IN) - No points is ideal.
  • Valid DIGI card and CPC card.

Role of a 7.5 Tonne Driver:

  • Delivering manufactured fabricated products to our customers located within the UK.
  • Ensure company policies for safety are adhered to at all times.
  • Good communication skills and attitude.

Main Duties and Tasks:

  • Program and operate the CNC milling machine.
  • Produce parts in accordance with the drawing / specification to the tolerances advised.
  • Maintain the machine, tools, and equipment to an acceptable standard. 
  • Achieve the cycle times on the job card.
  • Carry out inspection on products being produced.

General:

  • A valued and working member of the department - lead by example in work ethics, standards etc.
  • Communicate relevant information to the Supervisor.
  • Ensure the department maintains health & safety at the required levels. 
  • Work with Supervisors and other departments to quickly resolve issues.
  • Initiate and action ideas for improvements to products, equipment, methods, systems, and materials made or used by the department, thereby creating and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Quickly report to the Supervisor any issues that cannot be resolved.
  • Ensure that housekeeping within the area is maintained to the highest standards.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our Commercial Team with a good manufacturing background to estimate job costing for sheet metal products to many different industry sectors. You will be responsible for the estimating within the business. Candidates will report to the senior management team and will continuously develop their skills and knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

Essential

  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • 3+ years of estimating experience
  • IT competent
  • Wiling to work additional hours to meet business demands
  • Strong customer relations
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadline
  • Experience of working with ‘Bill of Materials’

 Desirable

  • Manufacturing or engineering experience
  • ERP experience
  • CAD experience – Solidworks preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Fabrication

 Location and Working Arrangements:

  • The position is based in our offices in Felling, Gateshead.
  • The salary offered will be appropriate to your qualifications and experience.
  • The company offers 25 days annual leave for this position.
  • The working hours are 38 hours per week. Note, the nature of the role in supporting the business can mean extended hours may be required from time to time.
  • An annual bonus scheme is also paid, based upon your performance, including hours invested in supporting the business.

  • Providing office support including customer and employee support

  • Printing and Distributing of Work Orders
  • Progressing of WIP through Manufacturing
  • Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders regarding WIP
  • Preparing paperwork ready for Despatch
  • Amending where required any BOM’s or Routers

Experience:

  • Must have experience working within an Engineering/Manufacturing business
  • Must have experience in using an ERP system.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office, especially Excel
  • Detail-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment

Function - Manufacturing Directorate

Reports to: Process Manager

Summary of the main purpose of the role:

The post holder will support manufacturing employees to achieve production within specified timeframes by transporting material in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned places
  • Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
  • Transport materials to production workstations
  • Identify safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies

General Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labelling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
  • Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
